Wow! I got a second DD for my work Head in the clouds . I'm so honoured Thanks a lot to `kuschelirmel for suggesting it and ^WilderWein77 for featuring it .
I've just returned from the seaside and I've found my message archive full. Keeping up with all the messages has became a bit difficult, but I promise I'll do my best.
2 YEARS ON DA
Yep....it's been two years (and a couple of days) I feel I have improved since then and I have discovered some brilliant and inspiring artists. Here are some of my all time favorites:
PHOTOGRAPHY
DIGITAL ART
TRADITIONAL ART
POEM
LULLABY
"I picked her down the river bed Where she lay among flowers Among dewdrops, amongst bloodstains Of her own. Her soul laid asleep In the white comfort of a swarm of wasps, butterflies And the forgettings of had-beens. The forgettings of time, eternity and screams. Dreams Marched across her foreheads along with ants. She was living on sounds. Sounds outside her body Sounds inside Sounds in the distant no-where She was sleeping on sounds When I picked her from the muds. I gave her my only moist room Where I lived alone. Unsleeping.
.... "
One of my favourite poems on DA. Read the whole poem here [link] The author is *clownscape, his works are definitely worth reading.
I've won first place at 's Roman Gods Contest with my entry Diana [link]. That one was unexpected, there were some great entries, check them out .
STUPID WEATHER
Now about the weather in my country... I usually hate hot summers, last summer was way too hot and I was complaining all the time about not being able to get out of the house before 8 PM. But this summer is way too cold and rainy. Yesterday, a very powerful and unexpected rain caught me by surprise and soaked me, of course I had no umbrella. Today I decided to go out with some friends in the evening and it was freezing. The worst part is that I plan to go to the seaside soon, I hope the weather will improve until then.
FEATURED - BLUE BLOSSOM
Now some good news: one of my favourite artists on dA, ~blue-blossom is back . She's an amazing artist, check out her gallery, if you haven't yet.
Nice to have you back
FUNNY QOUTE
"Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils ... " - Louis Hector Berlioz
I was talking to a friend the other day, intelligent btw, about a picture with a certain amount of blood in it. It wasnt the typical girl-cutting-her-wrists-in-the-bathroom picture, I found it tasteful, and I rarely find such pictures tasteful, but he placed her quickly in that category, failing to notice anything else about it except for the blood (and it wasnt gory either). I must admit it frustrated me a bit, not because he didnt like it, but because he refused to call it art.
People have different tastes when it comes to art I agree with that, but I simply hate when people see a work and fail to get the message behind it just because they find the picture disgusting. Too much blood, a strange face, a strange pose or violence. Or worse, they consider the artist a psychopath/murderer/child hater etc.(there have been several cases here on dA). If something is out of routine, its definitely wrong. But if its a girl in a dark dress looking at the sea or singing in the graveyard then its ok. Its dark enough to make it cool, but not disturbing. Technique shouldnt come into question here, its something every good work should have. But whats a pretty and technically good picture, if its devoid of any message? Its like a nicely wrapped present box without any present in it. And lets face it this kind of works fade away quickly. The original ones stay in our mind. I personally dont remember every picture I ever faved here on dA, although I enjoyed every one of them. I remember the ones who made me think about their message, maybe made me a bit nervous or changed my beliefs a bit. The disturbing ones. Im not against beauty in art, but I dont consider art should be necessarily beautiful either. Don't get me wrong, I like pretty works too, most of my works aren't visually disturbing either, even if they sometimes convey a darker message, it's simply not my style, but I appreciate these artists, some of them are brilliant. Art can be born from dark emotions too, we all have a darker side; some of the artists choose explore that side. Take for example Goya, Dali, Munch or Ray Carlos. When it comes to art, any source of inspiration and any method should be allowed (as long as it doesnt hurt other people directly).
Art is not something compulsory, if you dont like it, then dont watch. There will be others who will. But its not fair to judge the artist either, calling him sick or even worse, just because he has the courage to be himself and to ignore taboos, to break the barriers.
I'm back I'm finally free of highschool exams and other annoying things, so expect more work from me this summer.
Well...the best part is I'm going to a Lacrimosa and Tiamat concert in Sibiu ( I can't wait ). It haven't left the city in more than two months and it started to get boring - I needed a change.
Other plans for the summer: -go to the seaside with my boyfriend -go to Sighisoara(at a medieval festival with friends) -go to Germany to visit a friend -go to Greece with my former classmates -visit my grandparents
The holiday is long enough, I hope I'll have time for everything.
What are your holiday plans?
And one more thing...Check out this club . It's new, but promising .
